Value Engineering and Value Analysis - Getting More for Less

This course places Value Engineering (VE) and Value Analysis (VA), in the correct context of Value Management and depending on the needs and background of the attendees, concentrates on either project improvement (VE), or on improving processes such as a Local Authority service using VA. In practice both processes may be adopted within a single study and whilst the balance within the course may vary both processes are covered.

The course can also address both needs equally, for example where a Local Authority might want to send people concerned with project improvement and development and also people concerned with improving services.

Value Engineering and Value Analysis are particular applications of Value Management (VM); a systematic process of decision making particularly dedicated to motivating people, developing skills and promoting synergies and innovation, with the aim of maximizing the overall performance of an organization.

Value Engineering is a key requirement of all major client organisations concerned with the achieving excellence in project delivery. Value Engineering (and Value Management) are recommended good practice by HM Treasury, the Office of Government Commerce and major professional bodies.

Central to Value Engineering and Value Analysis is the clarification of value in the context of the project, service or product under review and effecting improvement through the analysis of functions and elimination of waste, whilst protecting core value. This is achieved through a process of structured team based decision making.
