This one day course provides an overview of the I Chem E (Burgundy Book) conditions of contract highlighting key areas of importance for those responsible for administering and supervising work executed under this standard form.

Session 1 I Chem E Contract Documentation
Available documentation; contract Documents; mistakes and conflict in documentation;
definitions.
Session 2 The Purchaser and his agents
The role of the Purchaser and his Agents; powers and duties.
Session 3 The Contractor and his Agents
A Contractor's powers and duties; contract manager and staff.
Session 4 Sundry Issues
Subcontracting; Insurance; Administration
Session 5 Time for the Works
Possession of the site; time for the work; approved programme; delays; delay damages; completion of construction; taking over; suspension.
Session 6 Payment for the Works
Setting the target; adjusting the target; payment; allowable and disallowable costs; certifying amounts payable; claims
Session 7 Dispute Resolution
Options available for dispute resolution
