Overview:
This one day course provides an overview of the IChemE contracts and specifically the Form of Contract for Lump Sum Contracts (Red Book). The course will highlight key areas of importance for those responsible for administering and supervising work executed under this standard form.
To enable delegates to obtain a working knowledge of the IChemE Form of Contract for Lump Sum Contracts.

- know the available documentation for the IChemE contracts
- appreciate how the quality, time and payment related provisions of the conditions operate
Course Outline:
Session 1 - The IChemE Family of Contracts
Overview of the family including the applicability of each contract to various projects.
Session 2 - IChemE Contract Documentation
General conditions of Contract, Special Conditions, Agreement, Specification and Schedules.
Session 3 - The Purchaser, Project Manager and other representatives
The duties and responsibilities of the Purchaser and his representatives.
Session 4 - The Contractor, Contract Manager and Site Manager
The duties and responsibilites of the Contractor and his representatives.
Session 5 - Assignment and Subcontracting
Subcontracting, nominated subcontractors.
Session 6 - Quality of Work
Documentation, design, patents and other rights, inspection and testing, Health, Safety and Environment, completion of construction, taking over, liability for defects.
Session 7 - Insurance
Types of insurance required.
Session 8 - Times of Completion
Commencement and completion, Approved Programmes, delays, liquidated damages, suspension of the Works.
Session 9 - Payment for the Works
Contract Price, sufficiency of Contract Price, payment, variations, Contractor's claims, provisional and prime cost sums, Final Certificate.
Session 10 - Termination
Termination by the Purchaser for convenience, termination for Contractor's default.
Session 11 - Dispute Resolution
Options available for dispute resolution.
