This one day course provides an overview of the I Chem E (Green Book) conditions of contract highlighting key areas of importance for those responsible for administering and supervising work executed under this standard form.
To enable delegates to better understand the importance, procedures and principles
applying to the measurement and valuation of works carried out under the building
contract.

- recognise the manner in which the Contractor may be reimbursed for work undertaken
- understand the principal duties and powers of the Purchaser and his Agents

- appreciate how the value related provisions of the conditions operate
- be aware of the manner in which disputes are to be resolved

Session 2 Reimbursable Contracts
The principles of reimbursable contracts; the contract price; schedules of cost elements, rates and charges
Session 3 The Purchaser and his Agents
The role of the Purchaser and his Agents; their powers and duties.
Session 4 The Contractor and his Agents
The role of the Contractor and his Agents; Contractor's powers and duties; contract manager and staff; sub-contracting; administration; records and audits; site services.
Session 5 Time for the Works
Possession of the site; times of completion; programme; force majeure and delays; delay damages; completion of construction; taking over; suspension.
Session 6 Payment for the Works
Terms of payment; certification; variations; contractor's variations; valuation of variations; final certificate.
Session 7 Dispute Resolution
Options available for dispute resolution
