Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment

Overview:

The course material includes mock health and safety audits of a number of facilities including workshops, laboratories, manufacturing facilities and office accommodation. Where practical, the course content will integrate with the procedure contained within the client's policy for the management of health and safety.

Aims & Objectives:

To obtain an understanding of the principles and practice for the management of Occupational Health and Safety and why it is necessary.

To apply these principles and practice to improve inspection techniques to manage effective risk reduction.

By the end of the course delegates will have an understanding of:

  • The legal requirements and responsibilities for risk assessment.
  • The principles of hazard identification and assessment of risk to aid the formulation and implementation of effective control measures.
  • Identify hazards and associated risks within the workplace.
  • Carry out and record risk assessments and associated control measures.
  • Integrate risk assessment within their daily practices.

  • Proactive approach to the management of Health and Safety.
  • Improve own personal safety and that of others.
  • Hazard assessment techniques.
  • Structured approach to risk assessment.
  • How Health & Safety legislation has targeted hazards.
  • Tolerability of risk.
  • Hazard analysis techniques.

Mode of Delivery:

This course is a one day workshop run at either a specified venue/college or at the client premises. It is desirable to have as a minimum, three teams of four people per team undertaking this workshop.

It is intended for those employees who take reponsibility for implementing and applying the management of Health and Safety in the work place.
