Aims & Objectives:
On completion of this course, delegates will:
Be able to
- Identify the major points of loss and transition in an individuals life
- Identify Reactions to loss and transition
- Describe the models of grief and loss
Have an understanding of
- The nature and reactions to loss
- Individual Coping mechanisms
- Appropriate ways of helping and supporting
Gain experience of
- Talking about loss and bereavement
Course Outline:
- Identify major periods of change, loss and transition
- Identifying human reactions to change, loss and transition
- Discuss the models of grief and loss
- Coping with transition and loss
- Identify appropriate helping and supportive behaviour
- Identify how this may differ for differing client groups
The overall approach will be one which is participatory and builds on participants own experience. In addition, participants will be provided with presentations, the opportunity for group discussions and real life scenarios for skills practice.
The workshop is one that is based around the delegates and their skills and requirements
Participants will gain an insight into the breadth of the subject and have the opportunity for skills practice in a safe non threatening environment

- Any one who wishes to consider this area
- NB This is not appropriate for any one who has experienced a recent bereavement
