As a species we have been using substances for over 2 thousand years but we struggle to comprehend the impact on children and families. This day will help to address that and look at strategies that may help.

  • Initial Assessment of attitudes and beliefs of delegates
  • Interactive Exercises
  • Individual and Group Exercises
  • Discussion by the group
  • Visual Aids e.g. short DVD/video, models, samples
  • Feedback Activity - case studies
  • Final Assessment

  • A chance to practice in a safe environment via the case studies
  • An opportunity to see how ones own beliefs and attitudes can impact upon the work that they do

 

Intended For:

This course is intended for all those whose work may bring them into contact with parents (and children of parents) who use alcohol and other drugs.

There are no pre-course requirements. However delegates must have a willingness to examine their own attitudes and beliefs, and a willingness to participate and engage in the exercises is essential.
